Corona Arch Moab Utah
Corona Arch is a moderate hike, trailhead is located on Utah State Rte. 279 along the Colorado River on the Utah side. Directions; head north on 191 from Moab for 4 miles, west on Utah State Rte. 279 (Potash road) turn left for ten miles. Just before Gold Bar Campground trailhead – parking lot will be on the north side of the highway. Trip to Corona Arch is three miles round trip.
Trail is well used with by a fair amount of rock climbers and hikers coming in for the day. Best times to the arch are spring and fall, unless you like the heat. Make sure to pack snacks and plenty of water it can be quite hot in the spring and fall. One trip it was a hundred seven degrees in mid-May. So, Lots of sun screen, sidenote trail is very rocky. As well as some slick rock crossings and sections with height exposure next to an edge. These sections of the trail have cables and ladders, not for the faint of heard :-). Personally loved it.
Corona Arch has a span of a hundred five feet (32 m.). And it is a hundred forty feet wide (43 m.), making it one of the largest arches near Moab, Utah.
Unique beautiful natural formation of sandstone is a great location for camping in the area with mountain biking on 1.8 million acres of BLM Land. Within this complex are serval area dedicated to climbing and base jumping. Don’t forget the camera, leave everything as you found it. In other words “Leave No Trace”. “Pack It In / Pack It Out!
