Disco Silicone Legs for Fly Tying
Disco Silicone Leg Bring Your Flies Alive
Silicone legs are the cheapest insurance policy in fly tying. Nature’s Spirit Disco Legs are the good old standard: flake-loaded silicone strands that kick, pulse and wiggle when the fly is sitting dead still. Tie them on poppers, crabs, stoneflies, streamers, Intruders and panfish bugs, and fish that ignored your fly yesterday will take it today.
We stock the colors that catch fish, not the ones that look pretty under shop lights. Hot Chartreuse for bass and dirty water. Purple and Blue for tarpon and steelhead. Avocado and Pumpkin for crabs, crawfish and nymphs. Motor Oil for anything that eats in clear water. Every product page includes two tested fly recipes and how to fish them.
Why silicone legs beat round rubber. Silicone holds its movement in cold water, resists tearing on toothy fish, and the flake catches light the way a crab claw or insect leg does. Round rubber still has its place on big foam bugs, but silicone is the everyday leg.
What species? Largemouth and smallmouth bass, trout, steelhead, salmon, muskie, pike, carp, bluegill and every other panfish, plus redfish, bonefish, permit, tarpon, snook and striped bass. If it has fins and a mouth, a leg helps.
How to tie them in. Fold one strand around the thread, slide it into place and take two tight wraps. Use a figure-eight wrap for X-legs on crabs and bugs. Trim legs long; you can always cut fish-chewed legs shorter at the vise.
