Built for the moment when stoneflies and hoppers overlap and trout are keying on anything big, black, and bouncing. The Obsidian Ovipositor is a two-sided foam pattern that pulls double duty as a hopper on top and an egg-laying stonefly underneath — fish it either way and let the trout decide.

Top: Solid black foam for a clean, high-floating silhouette in broken water.
Underside: Black glitter foam catches subsurface light like a natural stonefly’s sheen when it dips to lay eggs.
Egg sac: Black Semperfli Gel Core Fritz for a buggy, translucent egg cluster that seals the deal on picky fish.
Body: Three strands of peacock herl, twisted tight with Semperfli Fl. Orange Sunburst Micro Gel Core gives great segmentation — natural iridescence and movement that no synthetic can fake.
Wing: Light olive poly for visibility and a hint of natural coloration against the black profile.
Legs: Orange silicone glitter legs kick and pulse on the drift, adding the triggering movement that separates a looked-at fly from an eaten fly.
