Description
Gold Beadhead Gold-Ribbed Hare’s Ear
Tied on a Partridge K15DE — a heavy wire, wide gape hook that holds fish and holds up. This isn’t a fly tied to look good in a bin. It’s tied to fish.
The build:
- Hook: Partridge K15DE — strong, sharp, built for the take, not just the drift
- Thread: Semperfli Classic 6/0 — flat, low-bulk, keeps the profile clean under the dubbing
- Bead: Gold, for weight and a flash trigger as it tumbles through the seam
- Tail: Pheasant tail fibers — natural movement, no stiffness
- Body: Gold-ribbed hare’s ear dubbing — buggy, translucent, alive-looking in the water
- Wing case: Pheasant tail, pulled tight over the thorax for that natural emerging silhouette
This is the fly you tie on when you don’t know what’s hatching and don’t have time to figure it out. Caddis, mayfly, stonefly — the hare’s ear doesn’t ask the fish to commit to an ID. It just looks like food.
Fish it deep on a nymph rig, drop it off a dry in pocket water, or swing it through a run at last light. Sizes run true — pick your size for the water, not for the fly box.
Tied buggy. Tied right. No shortcuts
